Editorial: The Return of a Classic; this marks the fourteenth known issue of CitaNews, and the eighth editor. I was not planning on taking the project on, it kind of happened on me. I am hoping that this can become a lasting publication in the Citadelia community.

What is CitaNews? It is the newsletter for anyone interested in the community made up of room-based BBS's of Citadel origin. It is written for the layperson and the technically inclined. Everyone should be able to find something of interest in these issues.

Things we saw in past issues: We watched the networkability of Citadel break open and grow from basic system to system mail transfers, to all out global sharing of mail, and rooms. We watched systems come and go. We read about SysOps developing new Citadels and working together to develop cross platform Citadels. As one programmer added new features, they would all work together to add the features to other types of Citadels. We saw Citadel software become commercialized, and shareware. We watched as new sites started up across the world at businesses willing to offer discounts to Citadel SysOps' that helped them. Citadel grew out of a ten day programming spree into the global community of today. CitaNews has watched the changes during most of that time.

Things to look for in future issues: Expect to see reports on up to date development of the many different Citadel projects. Expect a taste of what each type of Citadel has to offer for you as a user or SysOp. Expect humor, tragedy, new life, and parting ways. Expect shortcuts and new features.

How can this be done? Alone no one can perform all of the above. That is why this is a Community paper. I can only print the information I am given. It is up to you, the users, the developers, and the SysOps of Citadelia to contribute to this on going effort.

---Michel Poulin (Campagnolo @ GWNorth)

Introduction of the new editor: Michel Poulin (Campagnolo @ GWNorth ) Many of you know me as Campy. I started BBS'ing in Minneapolis in '92. Calling systems like Yagdrisil <sp> and Wolf's Den. Eventually I found out about netted rooms and started calling the other systems like The HUB and Test System. The first run I went to was with The HUB, and Lever picked me up at my dorm. It was my first human contact with Citadelians. Until then the users were just odd names like "Loadmaster" (SysOp of The HUB) and "Bigfoot". Now they have faces and personalities beyond the monochrome text. Shortly after, I started "The Wonderful World of Campagnolo" with an old version of Citadel v2.x and a dual floppy 8088. Now, I am running GWNorth using Citadel/UX and the Internet as my medium. I don't see the old crowd any more as I have moved to Indiana, but I feel that I can bring some meaning to Citadelia via the CitaNews.

Happy Birthday!: UNCENSORED! BBS, located in Mount Kisco, NY (USA), is proud to announce that it is celebrating its tenth birthday today, March 10, 1998. The BBS has been online as a dialup system for ten years, and on the Internet for nearly two years.

IGnatius T Foobar (Art Cancro), the sysop of UNCENSORED!, is the author of the Citadel/UX software and a maniacal Unix enthusiast. He currently operates the BBS on a Linux box running in the basement of his home.

The past ten years have seen the face of BBS'ing change dramatically. UNCENSORED! Has kept up with the changes and continues to remain a popular online hangout. Everyone is encouraged to visit.
